Nature attacks!

Well, I should probably run a herpetology class at home, today's count was 1 scorpion, 2 snakes! The scorpion decided he wanted to take the tour of the house so he came to party, but, alas, came to a sorry end since my dad inflicted a quick and delibarate death upon him, before I could get my hands on the camera!! Pity, he matched my tiles, perfectly! Still wondering how he made it through the door with all those people coming and going! It kind of reminded me of that guy in Afghanistan who lives with hundreds of scorpions in order to make the Guiness book. Creepy...
The two snakes were in the stone wall at the patio, I know there must be a nest there, I always find a couple every summer. So, when you visit, don't leave milk lying around or you'll be in for a nasty surprise (I don't really mind snakes, as long as they keep themselves well beyond the interior of the house).

"In this life, we grow backwards"

"I hadn't gotten old enough yet to realize that living sends a person not into the future but back into the past, to childhood and before birth, finally, to commune with the dead. You get older. You puff on the stairs. You enter the body of your father. From there it's only a quick jump to your grandparents, and then before you know it, you're time traveling. In this life, we grow backwards."
One of the parts of Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides that I liked the most. The book is fantastic, (part of my birthday haul, thanks Cat!!) and I can't wait to read it again, the writing is excellent! It's also out in Greek, but still, I prefer the original.
And talking about excellent books and this year's birthday haul, so was Η μέθοδος της Ορλεάνης by Ευγενία Φακίνου, which lasted for two sleepless nights, after long dinners with friends. Thanks to Dina, that was time well spent! ;-D

SolarRoll

Probably the coolest thing that I have seen the last couple of days (Ok, next to kite surfing with 7-8 Beaufort which is also a high on my list, it is absolutely thrilling and the latest rage on the beach) thanks to Dimitri who has given me a crash course on the issue of of turning business into pleasure and pleasure into business!! So, while I'm checking out APs and calculating power needs, enjoy the look of the SolarRoll and if you're wondering what to get me for my birthday, well, your quest is over (it's even cheaper than a decent mobile, so here)!!!!

Poetry and all that jazz..

"Now it's jazz, the place is roaring..." the children in the distance, ghostlike figures appearing and disappearing, in and out of focus, racing their bikes in the crowd on and on and on, till everybody is a winner. The band, testing, then giving in to the crowd. "It's the beat of the heart". You look around and see people you've known, people you don't know, stolen smiles under the light and the mucic, eye contact, then, words exchanged and the music plays on. "He has a face like everybody you've even known", collective glimpses of people of the past. And you're held under the spell of the music...
